I likes me some Johnny Carinos, but yeah, I'm almost certain that a good mom and pop place would run circles around a chain restaurant. I'm definitely partial to more authentic Chinese restaurants than a Westernized place like Panda Express. I'd much rather eat a bbq duck that was hanging in a window than orange chicken.

We stopped at this serious Hole In The Wall BBQ joint on the way to Port Aransas. The town escapes me at the moment. They sold you a BBQ sliced brisket sammich for 5.50 and you could not even hold that thing in your hand because it was so big. Some guys bought the chopped BBQ sammiches for the same price and there was meat litterly pouring from the sides when you picked it up. You could have bought some sides with it... BUT WHY WOULD YOU? For 5.50 you might as well call for a wheelchair because you would be too full to move out the door!

So what other hole in the wall joints have you been to that make your mouth water?

For me? Back home in Toronto I had tons of places, Vietnamese, Korean, Caribbean, Italian, Chinese, burritos, sandwiches, you name it. And the hot dogs from the carts there are the best I've had out of anywhere, even New York and Chicago. Here, the selection isn't as diverse, but I gotta have those authentic tacos from that one place at least once a week. Do you guys have Babe's down in Waco? All of their southern comfort food is pretty good.

Psshhh, Waco won't let anything real good come into town. We do not have a Babe's. If we want good hole in the wall food, then we must go out of town. There is a joint in Ft Worth kinda away from I-30 called the Flying Fish and BOY HOWDY THAT PLACE IS AWESOME! Great seafood and for damn reasonable prices. That's about as close to coastal seafood as your gonna get.

Don't know if you have ever heard of a joint called Freebirds that serves oversized burritos but that place is awesome too. I wouldn't call it mexican food but you can put damn near everything under the sun on that tortilla!

Bryan and College Station have a few holes in the wall that we like to go to. If there is any place in Waco.. I don't know what it would be.

Haha! I don't know if this is telling or not, but I prefer Chipotle over Freebirds. Didn't Freebirds start in College Station?

I've never been to Flying Fish but I always wanted to go. We had a gift card there that we let expire.

Whenever we go somewhere though, we check out the Travel Channel and see where some of the show hosts have eaten. Their picks are usually pretty good.

Forget the show host.. just pack up and go to the flying fish! You will NOT regret it!

I went to Chipotle once in Colorado and I think I am still trying to grow taste buds back from whatever they put in that burrito! I haven't been back since. They have a Freebirds closer to us in Killeen and I found one in Ft Worth. I don;t know if they started in Bryan or Austin, but I have been eating them since 1998 and I don't see me stopping!

Oh there is another place you need to go in downtown Dallas area and give me a report. It is only the 2nd restaurant in the whole damn country. It's called the Heart Attack Grill and I can provide a link and the News coverage on it.

On the news coverage.. watch the grease come off that burger when he smashes it down!

When everything seems like an uphill struggle, just think about the view from the top.

You don’t love a woman because she is beautiful, but she is beautiful because you love her.
