400-pound woman is caught 'shoplifting' when her motorized cart gets stuck in exit doors
A 400-pound woman was allegedly caught shoplifting and was subsequently tasered after her motorized cart got stuck when she was trying to escape.
Jerrie Perkins, 30, allegedly tried to steal $600 worth of electronic goods from a Meijer store in Pontiac, Michigan.
Her attempt was foiled, however, when her motorized cart got stuck in the exit door.
When staff heard the door alarm activating they asked her for the receipts. It was at this point she got violent and police were called.
Perkins - who is described as being 5ft 2in and weighing 400lb - has been charged with unarmed robbery, resisting and obstructing a police officer and second-degree retail fraud.
Oakland County Sheriff's Office said she allegedly shoved the store's loss-prevention officer and hit her in the face.
When a deputy arrived and asked the 30-year-old to put her hands behind her back, she 'cursed at the deputy, balled her right hand into a fist and took a fighting stance'.
The deputy then pulled his Taser and told Perkins to put her hands behind her back.
Instead she brought her fist up over her head and looked directly at the deputy - who then tasered her.
It was only then that she complied with his commands and was promptly taken to jail.
She has since been released on $15,000 bail.
A profile on social networking site Friendster belonging to Perkins describes her occupation as a singer/songwriter/DJ.
It also states that the 30-year-old is interested in women and describes her as having 'a little extra weight'.
She reveals she is 'looking for girls who are real, that don't care if I am overweight'.
