Robin Williams has long been vying for a role in the new Batman franchise... could this finally be his chance?!

Los Angeles: Actor Robin Williams is likely to play Batman nemesis Hugo Strange in Dark Knight Rises.

Strange is one of Batman's first recurring villains in the comic books. He is a villain in the mad-scientist mold and possesses genius-level IQ and is a master of psychology. Strange learns Batman's secret identity but keeps it to himself. He eventually becomes obsessed with Batman that he starts dressing up like him, reports aceshowbiz.com.

This is not the first time Williams' name emerges as the possible cast member of this third Batman film from Christopher Nolan. Back in June last year, he was rumoured to portray The Riddler.

Weeeellllllllllllllllllllllllllllll.... I think Robin Williams is a little too short to be playing Hugo Strange considering that Strange has been known in the 80s to dress up like Batman and try to portray him. I don;t know how they will pull it off, but I have one thing to say:

I BELIEVE IN CHRISTOPHER NOLAN!!!

As long as they make the role totally demented, I think that Mork could shine as a villain.

Robin Williams is capable of a range of acting so he could most likely pull it off just fine.

With Nolan anything is possible. And I think Williams has the potential to be super creepy in the right role.

He is entirely capable of being a convincing sociopath. But would he fit in a batman movie?

who ever thought that Heath Ledger could pull off the role of a sociopath?
Williams, who has had darker roles, would definitely bring a psychotic persona worth of this dark series to the big screen. I truly hope he gets a part like this in the upcoming film!
