Every Which Way but Loose 1978
Starrin Clint Eastwood,Sondra Locke,Geoffrey Lewis,Beverly D'Angelo,Walter Barnes,Ruth Gordon,John Quade
Rated PG
After iconic performances as the man with no name, and Dirty Harry,it's somewhat humorous to see Clint Eastwood
doing a role like this.Eastwood plays Philo Beddo,a truck driver, who with the help of his friends Orville Boggs
(played by Geoffrey Lewis) and Clyde(who happpens to be an orangutan)makes money on the side as a bare-knuckle
fighter. One night Philo goes to a bar and falls smitten for a country/western singer named Lynn Halsey-Taylor
(Locke),the only problem with this is she is a con artist looking to take men for money and sex. With Philo being
smitten,he wants to make a go of his feelings so he goes to the trailer park to let his feelings be known, but
he only finds an empty lot,so a road trip ensues. Some sub-plots to the movies are Philo's encounters with a gang
of bikers called The Black Widows and a couple of sheriffs who in the past have lost money to Philo and had their
squad car used by Clyde,if you know what i mean,and Ma Boggs(Ruth Gordon)constant one-upsmenship with Clyde.I
found this movie to be a refreshing role for Eastwoood and the movie was quite successful that they made a sequel
of sorts in 1980 called Any Which Way You Can,with the main cast returning in their respected roles. This was
a funny movie for me when I was a kid and it still remains so till this day,so if you want a great Eastwood movie,
but don't want to watch a Dirty Harry or Man With No Name movie, then this is one you have to catch and it's sequel.
