Deathrace 2000
Starring David Carradine and Sylvester Stallone
Rated R

I figure with the release of this gem this week on blu-ray i would do a review on this cult classic by legendary
producer Roger Corman.Set in the year 2000,Deathrace is a annual televised sport to keep the American public
pacified after the collapse of the American way of life.Carradine plays Frankenstein,a driver who is said to be more machine
than man due to numerous crashes, who drives for the government as their representative.Stallone,in one of his first
movies, plays"Machine Gun" Joe Viterbo,a mobster type character who hates coming in second. The whole idea behind Death
race is to drive across country over the course of 3 days scoring as many points as possible thru a series of hit-and-runs
and cross the finish line first. The only difference with this race this year is that the drivers have to deal with an
underground resistence group who want to make a change in the way things are going with America. For the most part, this
movie was entertaining but most of the time i felt it was kinda cheesey with some of the acting but what do you expect
from a movie made in the 70's.Also a young Martin Kove of Karate Kid fame appears in this movie in a little role as
Nero The Hero which most people would miss completely if they weren't paying attention closely.I feel that this movie
will go down as a great classic in the B movie hall of fame and if you have seen Deathrace and found that to be entertaining
then you got to see this movie, but remember,it is what it is.
