After 4 years it was time to upgrade my Motorola PEBL. After multiple commercials from Motorola and HTC I was digging the DROID. That was, until I actually bought it.

Good: The amount of apps are very impressive and I now have enough Family Guy sounds to choke a horse! The operation of it is simplistic for a smartphone.

Bad: The touchscreen made me very nervous, like I see my co-workers with a new iPhone or DROID and the screen is cracked. Not even a rubbery case can protect that. Yes there's insurance, but there's a deductible. Smudges are very annoying. I found myself cleaning it off more than I was actually using it. Battery life sucks 8all$ as well. An 8-hour day and I used 82% of the battery on standby.

Here's the odd thing, I was setting ringtones and what not for my home line and my wife's cell phone, and in a completely different area...out of the blue...I called myself AND Donna. Setting ringtones and wasting minutes calling people are totally different. The qwerty keyboard is about the same size of a blackberry, which made my spelling ability something to be laughed at by others.

So I returned it 2 days later and I now have the Brigade, which I dub my New Earth phone. It's MIL-STD-810F-certified to withstand water, shock, dust, immersion, vibration, salt, fog, humidity, solar radiation, high altitude, and extreme temperatures. Yes it's limited compared to the DROID and iPhone types, but it'll survive a war!
